First Aid at Work Course

This course - 

  • Is a full Health and Safety Executive (HSE) approved First Aid at Work course, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Once qualified, holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Duration - 

  • 4 days or 1 day maximum 10 delegates

Objectives -  

  • This course covers -

  • Priorities of first aid.

  • Managing an incident.

  • Roles/responsibilities of employers/employees for first aid at work.

  • Care of the unconscious casualty.

  • Cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

  • Disorders of the airway.

  • Dealing with bleeding and shock.

  • Cause of unconsciousness.

  • Burns and scalds.

  • Injuries to bones, muscles and joints.

  • Poisoning.

  • Recognition and management of major illnesses.

  • Recognition of minor illnesses and appropriate action.

  • Eye injuries.

  • Miscellaneous injuries.

  • Record keeping and accident reporting.

  • Infection control.

  • Communication and delegation in an emergency.

  • Managing the transportation of a casualty.

Tests - 

  • Multiple choice paper, 75% pass mark

Who should attend - 

  • Employees who need a first aid at work certificate to comply with HSE requirements.
